Fabio Capello , former Roma coach from 1999 to 2004 and Italian champion with the Giallorossi in 2001, gave an interview to today's edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport. The current Sky Sport commentator gave his take on the Serie A situation after eight matchdays.
Capello focused in particular on Inter, currently tied for first place with Lazio: “ I've always maintained they were the favorites , the team best equipped to win the Scudetto, and at the moment I have no reason to convince me otherwise. However, seeing all of Milan and Rome up there makes me happy and takes me back to my past . ”
Capello on Lazio and Roma
Capello then spoke about Lazio's great moment: "Gattuso is doing something extraordinary, there's no point in beating around the bush. And mind you, there's nothing coincidental about Lazio's seven wins in eight games. On the contrary, he plays the kind of football I like, without too many unnecessary flourishes, always going vertically and not wasting time on touches that make the game cumbersome . "
Roma and Milan are four points behind the white and blues. " I think Roma are better, because they have a proven game , while the Rossoneri are still looking for their definitive identity. That's not a criticism: Gasperini has been working with his men for a year , while Amorim has just arrived and the difference on the pitch is noticeable ," added the former coach.
