Giorgio De Marzi returns to the national team. As reported today by Il Tempo , the young Roma goalkeeper has been called up to the United States Under-20 team for their November fixtures. The 2007-born goalkeeper, who sat out the match against Manchester United and Sassuolo , will join his teammates in the States for a training camp scheduled for November 9th to 17th.
The call-up was also confirmed by the U.S. Football Federation. Coach Gonzalo Segares included De Marzi in the list of 24 players called up for the tournament organized at the National Training Center in Fayetteville , Georgia . The Roma player will be one of three goalkeepers available to the coach, along with Kayne Rizvanovich and Aidan Stokes.
De Marzi, from his commitments with Roma to the USA
The United States has three matches scheduled : against Japan on November 12th , against Colombia on the 14th , and against Paraguay on the 17th . All of the matches will serve as preparation for the 2027 Under-20 World Cup , scheduled to take place between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan . De Marzi had already taken part in the American team's previous training camp, also playing a friendly against Brazil.
For the goalkeeper, born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and therefore a US citizen, it's been a peculiar week. Injuries to Svilar and Gollini have made him Vasquez 's primary backup at both Old Trafford and the Olimpico , though he hasn't yet made his official debut with the first team.
