Gian Piero Gasperini , after Manchester United-Roma (3-2), commented on the comeback defeat to Sky Sport: “I think it was a different match to the one against Real Madrid, where everything happened in seven minutes, without any obvious signs. The penalty gave United a great boost and we weren't able to contain that momentum.”
The Giallorossi coach continued his analysis of the defeat: "These are different situations. Tonight we lacked the strength to counter their attackers. The first goal came from the penalty spot, then came the injury on the second goal. The match had become evenly balanced, and it's understandable that Manchester City struggled for a quarter of an hour. If you can make the most of these incidents, then you can win."

Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about Molina, who remained on the bench: "He could have stayed in because, as you say, he's an international player. Rensch started well, then I brought Lulli on and there was no room for change. Wesley played his excellent game and then things went the way they were, but that's not the reason. The game against Real Madrid is different from this one in a difficult environment... Let's take something out of it for the future that could be useful.
The Grugliasco coach continued his analysis of the comeback: "They had nothing left to lose; we had to play differently, including taking advantage of long balls. We couldn't keep up with their lines; they prevailed through pressing and attacking initiatives. Perhaps, competitively, we should have resorted to a few more interruptions. We suffered their momentum, amplified by the penalty and the 2-2 incident, and this prevented us from finishing the game."
Gasp concluded: " There's a dip in disappointment that you see a victory slipping away, like what happened against Real Madrid. These incidents mean the team must relieve itself of the pressure of a result at all costs, but it's not just that. This is a match we need more than the others."
