The eyes of the world will be on Man United vs. Roma tonight . The Red Devils want to bounce back, and the Roman team can deliver the final blow: Old Trafford will put on a show . Rafa Benitez will also be watching the match, and he gave some statements about the match to La Gazzetta dello Sport .
Benitez: "Man United vs. Roma is the most fascinating matchup."
Benitez: Is Manchester United vs. Roma the hottest match of the two days?
"For Italian teams, I'd say it's the most fascinating of all. In a stadium that's a temple, against a historic opponent, with the recklessness that Roma deserves to be recognized for, scoring three, four, or even five goals against anyone, as their recent matches have shown. They're a finished team, having emerged from the shock of the undeserved defeat against Real Madrid with three extraordinary results: the draw in Naples and then the two victories over Cagliari and Udinese. They're doing well, they have the confidence that comes from their play."
And Manchester is having a very hard time.
Football is a lie, as I said years ago and I still believe now. Carrick got it back on its feet, led it to the Champions League, and now it's having to contend with a clear crisis of results, both in the Premier League—where it's lagging far behind—and in this competition. But it's not easy for anyone at Old Trafford, even if Manchester United are having a tough time. Gasperini knows this well, Roma knows it, and they will adjust accordingly.
