Pierluigi Gollini , shortly before Manchester United-Roma , suffered a back problem and was unable to play the match which the Giallorossi ultimately lost 3-2. The Roman side, having taken a two-goal lead (Soulé , Malen (R)), allowed a comeback in the second half, conceding three goals (Bruno Fernandes (R), Da Cunha a brace).
Gollini's replacement, Vasquez , also saved the former Udinese player's penalty, but the referee retaken it for Cristante 's alleged invasion of the penalty area . The goalkeeper, reinstated after Svilar 's injury , bears no particular responsibility for the goals conceded, except for the last one, where he could have been more ready to hit his own post, but Da Cunha's shot was still difficult to stop given the monstrous power with which he fired. The former AC Milan player could still defend Roma's goal on Saturday ahead of the final match before the international break against Sassuolo.
Gasperini on Gollini: "I don't know if he'll be able to return on Saturday, we'll see."
Gian Piero Gasperini, in a press conference, spoke about Gollini's condition, having been sidelined today against Manchester United with a back problem and replaced by Vasquez: "I don't know if he'll be able to return on Saturday, we'll see."
Alarm bells are ringing at Roma, with the former AC Milan goalkeeper warming up his gloves to defend the Giallorossi goal again on Saturday ahead of Roma's match against Sassuolo. The next few days will be crucial to see if Gollini can grit his teeth.
